Gold

MainPage»Gameplay

You get gold by mining gold veins. It’s common to find gold on creatures and in treasure chests, too.

You can store gold pieces in a treasure chest, if you like. Gold is used to build statues, and can also be used to recruit specialized units and purchase goods from certain factions. Golden statues are a reliable and indefinitely-accessible way to seriously increase your population cap. Hoarding too much gold will attract bandits.

Gold is also used to install high-end furniture (traning facilities that aren’t capped and high-Luxury beds & flooring) and is necessary for Demon Shrines, if your faction uses them. Once your faction reaches malovelence level 10, you can install a Throne for 500 Gold: it tends to aggravate hostiles, but sitting on it summons all creatures (or at least as many as will fit) in your faction to the room. As such, invader-accessible Thrones are considered the sporting choice before retiring your dungeon for online play.

Some units carry gold, but not many and not a lot of it. Building a solid defense will no longer farm gold from enemy dead. (Their settlements may have pleasantly-stocked treasuries, though.)
